Updates (Apr 14, 2026)
Things I learned over the years:
- Enjoy your life
- Then one day things will move
…
Being old is great.
When you realize young people are busy learning how to fix their new car or replacing a oven heating coil while you are doing something in your own time, you realize life went full circle and you made it.
This is probably the pinnacle of life.
…
So what happened? How did I grow up in the span of 2016 – 2026?
I was an old man in his 30s changing his life. In 2016, I was 33.
The younger generation are less racists and more First Peoples.
People are First Peoples and want a sense of closeness and bonding.
I went back to school in 2017 and found that people are open as that is life nowadays.
Life is too complicated to do things solo 100% like in the 1990s.
So people open up and work together as things are just to complicated.
Also young people think old people are dumb if they see them work physical jobs or go back to school in their 30s, so young people help.
…
Younger Vietnamese open to me and showed their self.
I being older realize they are still young adults thinking they know the world and understand people from all walks of life as they are the most humane and hopeful.
But as a older person you understand opportunities are limited and things are systemic … you let them study .
…
What came out of finishing a degree and working … same problems.
I am left alone to do my thing since high school but slowly at it and doing my own thing.
Nothing really changed since 2001 for me. I am still a wannabe coder since grade OAC/13.
I just have more experiences and more people to work with as we are all old and need to keep busy to fend off thinking negative and getting off the rails.
…
More and more Vietnamese understand this now.
I brain dumped and experience dumped my entire 42 years of life on the web (websites/blogs) as a full South Vietnamese born in Canada.
What did I get back?
More and more Vietnamese trying computer science realizing “Holy crappers! I am in this alone and no one really helps poor me. I reached the highest level of creating products and left to fend all alone as the coding world is bigger than anything else in the world (physical + abstract + basically unlimited RAM). It is literally too abstract and too many ways which can be simple or complex to get there. And then there is refactoring!!!”
Vietnamese coders when they reach this level are all alone eating their inexpensive cheese and 1-ply deli sandwich.
Solidarity for life at work.
The vastness is too long and wide to fathom really when developing ‘products’.
I finally got here and understand life as a coder doing products.
I am mature.
…
This is life in the modern world 21st century.
Once the other Asians became developed in the 70-90s building their own systems like Operating Systems in their own Language things got perfect.
It is all about building operating systems.
…
The other Asians that realized their country of origin developed things from scratch like electronics and computers and computer software including their own Operating System for electronics is when they grew.
…
Being Vietnamese then is odd because we use English.
…
That reliance is the problem and good thing.
…
Depending on electronics and operating systems from other countries stagnant your next level development.
…
What do I look forward to, to keep me going?
