What I experienced in school: Practical Nursing in Scarborough

Second semester.

Live, laugh, love and work.

Practical nursing students passed first semester.

Life is about getting along and understanding hierarchies of life and some boundaries.

All top students understand that life is crap and the only way up from the madness is scoring a scholarship to get everything paid for and get the experience.

Later, I learned from real life doctors is to maintain the higher ground in everything. Hold high and structured under the hisses and fits of life which is maintaining education and order.

I managed to score As except one B+ in first semester allowing me to peer-tutor for the college first semester courses.

That was an amazing feat for me I think.

In the 35 years of life in 2020 I managed to help other maintain a life under the circus of North America. Practical nursing taught enough for mature student to start a life 1 – 2 years after graduating and working.

But during second semester, I found how out of tune I was in nursing and in life including culture.

In Durham Region I was told to be secondary and just live.

In Scarborough, the coloured culture that had lots going on was seen superior. That meant Persians and Latin Americans who looked white. Their culture arose higher than everyone. They would come and go as they had things going on in their life’s that allowed them to learn and have a life higher than other coloured people.

I felt so stunted when walking around the long-term care homes. I thought there was a reason for all this suffering but in reality … old sick people just want attention when they get old in the from of presence and socialization and cleaning them for their last years and months as cleaning activity is the hardest thing at old age.

There was a hair salon/beautician in the nursing home. There were recreation activities, games and physical activities for extending life and enjoying it. Lots of good food too.

That is all life is as a practical nursing healthcare worker in long term care.

Going into healthcare as a practical nursing student startled me so much that it was all relaxing and fun care.
