Work and Life in Canada

My family isn’t really anything special I realize now.

We are the few Vietnamese families that own an apartment to rent out in Oshawa.

Not many people can do that.

Thanks to God we are Western enough to get along with the residents of Oshawa.

So that was the trick to have your kids with you at all times in the house instead of partying in the city: have Westernized children and an apartment to fix 24/7.

If there is an emergency at the apartment (bathroom leaks or clogs), your children are always at home 24/7 waiting to help you out with the toolbox ready.

Over time because of ease of owning rentals, one child reaches outside the house (outside world) and works with other Oshawa residents and then you got locomotion.

You have to really think at the highest pinnacle with Westerners why you do the things you do and for Dalit people it is all about survival.

So in the position of Vietnamese, life is good as it is about survival and doing well reaching to the highest shelves.
