But how was your forray into computer science at 17 – 25?

I assume going into computer science at 17 – 25 means that you been playing with computers since the age of 9.

Remember as foriegn students to a German university will be hard as the culture clash is big.

But Germany is more coloured than the rest of Western Europe and I also never been to Europe.

Pitfalls in studying Computer Science

1. Usually you have parents in engineering fields: one or both so naturally you go along and follow which should be OK as engineering has all the life lessons. Students who have parents in engineering understand life is logic and functional. There is a written path that is step-by-step when your parents are engineers. The only thing lacking in a engineering family is the passion. For example I write software in system utilities. That is an art. Learning the human centric study. Which is what people do with the computer commonly everyday. In most of your engineering in computer science you will be making systems which streamlines and finds commonalities and outliers. I am not an expert as I have little education in actual computer science. I only have a 2-year computer programming diploma.
2. If you come from a rich family and were spoon fed, it will be hard. You will be studying in groups for 3 – 6 years asking the nerd for help and then when you graduate you land working with your old family business. To do computer science require a really need and want … usually for survival and face as things are egotistical for some races.
3. Computer science is 100% survival for me. As a Vietnamese with very little modern history of computing, we as Vietnamese are known as animalistic culture which is farming. My life in Oshawa feels dedicated in building a foundation and library of knowledge in computing. I have been published many times and cemented myself in computers.

The job for you during computer science to not waste the 4 year degree is only if you been studying since 9 years old and the goals and dreams that are outside the degree are bigger than the degree itself.

This require huge personal growth over the years as a child. What as a child when you were 9 years old you wanted to play and solve. What world goal do you want to achieve and study?
