So in 2018 I decided to become a practical nurse.

I traveled to Mississauga to eat lunch with my younger sister Lisa.

We had Vietnamese wraps with 7 types of beef.

Nicely priced and fulfilling.

The owner of the restaurant asked me who I was and what I was doing in life.

I replied I am done school a while back (meaning I reflected and recollected and mature now) and will become a nurse.

She then wailed why? Why become a nurse?

Then it hit me.

Vietnamese higher up don’t expect their children for friends and family become nurses. They want more.

What made me happy visiting Mississauga in the 2017-8 era? It was the fact that Vietnamese had restaurants and nail salons all across Mississauga and that was a staple and the norm after 30 years in the country. We had normalcy in the world which was North America.
