The Life Choice or Not
The untold side of healthcare …
I worked in healthcare a few times.
- Pharmacy assistant in an area I grew up
- Volunteered in Cancer Centre in the hospital where I was born
- Studied practical nursing for almost a year and had one student first day introduction shift at a long-term care facility in Markham.
- Also volunteered at a seniors centre in my local city
What people don’t tell you about serving in health care.
You have that ‘helper’ status.
You are always alert and monitoring energy levels to respond and help.
The ‘thing’ is that you can flip the script. That you are the healthcare support.
You are the person in the room that should not be criticized.
Then you live the rest of your life in healthcare being the person in the room that gives health and life advice.
That is the position you are in.
Instead of you getting the advice and criticism …
You are giving the ‘nice’ eye, giving the ‘What do you think you are doing???’ feel and look and giving the judgmental look all day.
You are in the sphere and zone where you are 120% protected because you are the advisor and caretaker.
That is good and bad.
You will never be criticized because you are the one providing the care.
You have seen 1000’s of patients that have done bad choices so you have a good opinion of what is good or bad in society.
Some medical professionals in the West deep down think very high of themselves to a point where it can feel bad??? … I worked and acted poorly at times …
But that is the thing about life in the West and working medical.
It helps you have a family and everything else you need.
Enough ego, enough money, a house and a couple of cars, pension, a lifestyle where you are higher and give out advice and are in an elevated position in society.
It maybe the only choice you have to have a family of your own in the West by doing healthcare???
The mindset to provide care 24/7 as a healthcare worker allows you to have the life of care, consideration and love. And that is important in the West where things can sometimes be a circus.
Are you looking for more? As a healthcare worker you can too …
