What is life at 41 years old in Canada as a Vietnamese man born in Canada in 2025?
I had a feeling things would turn out OK as long as I followed the people of the past …
When I was younger like in my teens before 18 years old, I saw stoic figures in society in daily life.
Older ‘Canadians’ that kept quiet and out of frame. They did their research and kept to themselves???
Then I realized the secret to living the best healthy life possibly here in Canada like the wise ‘Canadians’.
Keep busy, do something you love that is like reading, writing and don’t care about making it big or wealthy but just keep reading and writing and enjoying the full life that Canada brings. Keep learning and fill that mind … wander endlessly …
That is the secret to a smart, healthy life in Canada.
If you have a wife or girlfriend that expects more, then you get stress and die early and won’t enjoy the nice brewed coffee every single day.
No one is hiding this fact of life. You see these people everyday really but once in a while shopping.
Then you can write books and make money on that. Who doesn’t want to publish a book?

Tan Vu (John) told me something quite amazing.
He is from Saigon and lived in Canada for about 5 years for study and work.
He told me the missing piece of my brain and my Vietnamese culture and identity.
Living in Canada brings you so much freedom that it can make you depressed. Too much choice and thinking can make you think depressed. Asia is the opposite.
Therefore, nothing makes sense here in Canada with some people doing this and some people doing that.
What is life then when people are butting heads?
One way to think about it is who cares. Nothing makes sense. Go so broad that you think above and wide and encapsulate whatever anyone thinks but even broader still.
As a citizen of the world, you are suppose to learn both Vietnamese views and Western views and once you understand it solid nothing bothers you.
You just do your work as intended and all the hollering and name calling means nothing. Put the shouting aside and just focus on the forwardness of diligent work and go home and rest. Repeat.
…
I learned this from socializing with Vietnamese from Vietnam … Tan Vu parents are from the North.
So I am learning the old culture from the origins of Vietnam from the North.
I am from the South for at least 300 years. My Southern culture is different from the North. It is in my genes now after living in the South for 300 years+.
…
Also the circle of life is what is here in Canada. You got to mix and circle.
