What is programming after 10-11 years?
I started programming again in 2014 after failing 2nd semester first year comp sci at uni in 2009.
After 11 years it has become somewhat ok??? There is no real headaches, just some tiredness after programming routinely.
I guess it does take years and years to get a skill that is worthwhile.

I went to the hospital in Peterborough the other day for a member of my family.
Things I learned in an ‘almost rural’ hospital:
- You learn about people.
- You learn generally about people.
At the end, it is the patients have that different lives that you see different and learn from???
As a healthcare provider, you just live balanced and are a observant???
…
There is only 2 ways to live:
- Live so minimal that problems occur. All the bad things in life …
- Work so hard so nothing bothers you.
That is why doing the things I love is the best health. There is no life beyond that maybe … ???
After school and working, AND working one of the hardest jobs (web development), then you really see life and how it is to maintain your health and happiness. I thought I did enough but there is more …
I thought life was at it’s peak back in final year high school realizing web development was all there is at the end. But no, you have study things around that too to make yourself better and feel better and do the work better and feel good about it. You actually have to work hard to feel good. There is no point of anything if you don’t.
…
What I realized at the hospital (A place where it is civil + intelligent people):
When you are a newcomer to the Americas, some established groups are full of anger seeing you different from the negative stereotypes they unconsciously want to see in front of them. They are angry that you have achieved something really good. Some established people have microaggressions they might display uncontrollably that comes out from just disbelief that you are there.
I guess that is life.
That is how things change and improve and helping yourself AND by just getting old.
I made it through. I did all this when I got old to avoid negative young society. No one can touch an old man. I am an old fart and just specialized in my interests instead of conforming to society. This is normal. Especially normal when you get old.
The ones displaying microaggressions are somewhat younger than me in both life experience and age usually.
As a Vietnamese, I had to live really well to get that life experience in work to overcome negative people. That is just life.
…
Also a funny thing about being coloured or life in general … It is what good things you do with your time like education and work that sets you apart really.
…
Some groups/people just negative generally stereotype you. People negatively criticize generally. What you can do as a Vietnamese person is to work with your group to have that uniqueness. I worked so hard since 2020 with my supports and feel unphased when someone criticizes me. I guess that is the way in life. You must have 100% supports and unique thinking and to make life and show people.
People who generally negatively stereotype you are usually are not unique themselves. They might come from established groups and just project negatively on people as that is normal because they come from established groups with some merit. It helps and doesn’t help you.
You learn from this negativity and go forward. You seek people who suffer as much as you to grow with and help to open things up.
Eventually, you get something. Something different.
That is what is life outside in the real world.
…
After living so far out of school, life is not really funny business no more.
…
If you really specialize and on top of that you are Vietnamese, you will be OK and have a really big mind that no one can bother at the end. Just focus on yourself and your passions here in Canada and everything should be OK.
…
At the end of the day, you figure out how to do the things you do with the most good impact. Maximize good impact.
…
If you don’t do something that is different then there is nothing? From your perspective you have to do something. It maybe worthwhile.
