What I learned from 2015 to now.
In 2015, I was in limbo.
I was unhealthy thinking that life was blah and nothing. I believe there was nothing to life and that life was work and sickness and …
I went to Vietnam in December 2015 and quickly realized at 32 years old there is culture, Vietnamese young culture. Young adult spirit of doing and trying new things to interact and work with the forward West.
75% of the Vietnamese population is young like below 30 in 2025. Young energy to do and try new things. That is what is good about Vietnam currently.
If you visit Vietnam in the last decade you see the young generation wanting a life of new things most of the time.
But when they come here to the West they have to understand the layers and boundaries and develop more … That is the problem …

What I learned about socialization after working in my field.
Most people after 8 years working in their field expect the worse but accept things to work out at the end in Canada. Just talking and thinking and expelling frustration in life and work. Just living the modern life.

How I really think now:
- I have family that did not connect with Vietnamese so they are in limbo. Connecting with other Vietnamese in North America is the most important thing in life for Vietnamese in North America. It gives you socialization, community and relief of stress because EVERYTHING IS OK HERE IN CANADA regardless of anything. There is nothing to worry about really but if you stay isolated your life is full of sickness and expectations that are heavy and cause terminal stress.
- I just socialize with Vietnamese born in Canada so I have no stress at all because life runs in parallel with other Vietnamese born in Canada. My life is not dependent on Vietnamese from Vietnam really because we actually live different lives kind of. We can learn from each other and give our perspectives and it helps us learn and develop

What I learned recently that is true again …
- Doing the standard tried and true courses like “maths” and medicine might be the salvation you need in life. You get to that later in life if you tried to do arts and other passions. You need a standard tested learning to make yourself good and to grow positively without bad thinking. I am thinking a bit selfish.

What is healthcare?
I am revisiting my stance on healthcare.
Only people who come from a developed country understand healthcare I think.
Speaking from a Vietnamese background currently, I don’t know what healthcare is for an average person. All I know is striving.
Is that enough? Just pushing? Can I tell my patients to just push and push for good things? Try to obtain good things in life?
Speaking from the Vietnamese centric view, it can be good and bad. If your family had education for generations before you probably understand attainment. You might try. If your family came from farmers, then you might go all in trying and trying until you get something of high value.
But if you are from a developed country, you understand health “maybe” from all angles as your country and people developed over the centuries.
