Updates (September 28, 2024)
Growing up you do realize what you are good at. Life gets to you and you learn how do deal with people and their different perspectives …
Only when you get older you realize the old ways of normal everyday thought doesn’t really do much. You learn how to deal with people generally. But at middle-age you got to rise above the same everyday existence and try to create and do something new. You lived the same day over and over for like 7 to 15 years in your 20s and 30s.
The extra step is to really get out. Thinking really different. You can do that if you have the right experience and reasons. As a Vietnamese person who is now 40 years old, the old ways of living doesn’t help me. Lots of negative thinking and negative stereotypes everywhere which is normal.
I also have to focus on the people who are doing other things and align myself. Some are doing general work and some are doing really creative and/or structured thinking jobs. You really have to evaluate where you are. And then see what you want to do, what you want to specialize in and the goals for the next 3 months, 1 year to 5 years.
You got to break away from the everyday thinking most people, mostly young people think. At middle age you are just sitting there thinking something new to appease yourself. Getting out there in public with all the young adults doesn’t help you really think. At middle age you have to give yourself the time, space and energy to do what you like and enjoy because you are old and past the young stage of life. You are afforded this. Also most young people don’t care for old people. You don’t have to do anything out there. Just be content doing what you like at middle age.
Socializing in my groups (Vietnamese and Vietnamese-North Americans) is quite interesting now at middle-aged. I socialized a lot and am now brainstorming. At middle-age you can actually do something different. At middle-age you combated all the negativity. You can just live good now if you put in the effort to brainstorm and do stuff instead of moping around.
What do I do when I am not outside in public? I read and ‘blog’ mostly. Sometimes program when I feel I can. I rest, reflect and observe a lot till I am ready to do it.

I am hesitant to blog really. I feel the younger people reading this blog won’t understand my middle-aged thinking.

There is always 60% left in the tank if you push. That remaining 60% makes you feel good and exerted.

You are supposed to do what you are good at. See how it goes. What will you do at middle-age and beyond alone?
There is a culture at physical institutions. But at home alone you only have yourself, your mind. Your mind hanging in the dimly lit room. It could be a good thing to finish school and try out in the world finally alone.
Some of my Vietnamese friends really have a distinct personality. I need to develop more.
I learned a lot by going to a coloured school back in my university days. I could see different thinking patterns.
