Opposite

So my father and mother came to Canada to study and work and have children.

Is the opposite true?

Can their kids go back to Vietnam to work and have a family?

Do I have enough skills to go back to Vietnam? That is a serious question.

The more I stay in Canada, I feel off …

My way of living has changed as I have become more First Peoples/Indigenous in thinking.

If I can not do what I like or what I like before, then what is life? What is life changed?

Am I going to live an Indigenous life from now on?

The scariest thing about growing up in Canada is the fight and racism.

Like I am an old man now. When I went to college later in life, young students would be surprised to see a Southeast Asian man who held a couple of papers. They would question the immigration system and race and everything …

Good thing I finished and got out of school because school was not for me.

School is about bringing new ideas to the table …

Some young students think life is all about external validation and it is so bad at school sometimes when you see this and they make you focus on the same values.

I am a Southeast Asian man born in Oshawa, I could care less about external validation because I am Funanese.

So my brother put out a sign to find a wife.

I am not sure what my brother is aiming for. He is 47 years old. There are some prospects.

So I have done something in my life after socializing since 2017.

What is the next stage?

Am I moving back to Vietnam?

I think I have enough skills to start something.

At the end of the day, if you can do what you like internally then it doesn’t matter where you live in this world.

The new generation has had social media since 2004. This means they have so many online friends since kindergarten.

What does that mean? They aren’t really independent thinking like my generation.

I soloed a lot out here in Durham Region and got stuff done externally and uniquely.

The more friends you have in the West, things are more racist and linear.

You expect your friends if you are from the West and have Western friends to sit organized so all you get along in an hierarchy of race.

I made friends around the world and realized anyone can do anything they want from the comfort of your home.

My young friends in Canada are caught in the loop if a certain race is allowed to do ‘X’.

It is horrible sometimes when you see people stopping people based on race alone out here.

People gauge people based on race but after awhile it means nothing. So horrible that it is better to go back once you see it.

What I had to do.

In 2017 I had a dream.

It came true.

Now nothing really makes sense if you focus on what happened.

Race, culture and limits mean nothing.

So what is life once dreams come true?

Are you supposed to keep thinking of race, culture and limits?
