Updates (Feb 4, 2026)

So you are 2nd generation Vietnamese born in Canada … So you grew up accepting the following:

  1. Cartoonish caricatures of Vietnamese from the 1960s from the Vietnam War

That is all it is.

To get around that is to grow doing your own thing.

But it is really odd.

In Vietnam, no one mentions this cartoonish character in media except if you live in North America.

So is living in North America really worth it when you are 42 years old with no kids of your own yet with cartoons like this about?

There are a number of Vietnamese going back to Vietnam to work and live over the past 10 years.

Does any Vietnamese from Vietnam understand why?

I think they think North America is the center of the universe.

But what did it do to me born here.

So is life a cycle?

Only the immigrants can succeed while the 2nd gen + get cartooned because that is just the way things are here in North America.

Like I said, I had to study 37 years to get something and I am still without a family of my own yet.

At the end of the day, it is the world geo politics that make us end up somewhat like this.

But when I am 3rd gen … what do I do?

Will there be a 3rd gen?

I was told by a health professional it is better to go back to the Old World instead.

Like studying and working like this is very, very manly and masculine. It can startle people how deep you went. And that is the thing.

I did my thing and went on a tangent that refactored about 15 times some software. Then out on the other end a product was made was so different but also important.

But Funanese people are on the opposite wavelength of the majority here.

If we stay and live, nothing seems to work out as the difference in polarity makes us weak and complain all day??? especially for a 2nd gen.

North America frequency makes me reverse. I have to push so hard. Like I am naturally the way I am but that is not even accepted.

Did being born here make me even more backwards too?

Anyways, the products that I help make, should talk about the positive and negative sides of the product and then end up neutral to make it compelling and understandable.

That is the trick of things. If you make a product that has both positive and negative qualities, it is somewhat out there. Windows Debloaters are good and bad. The user makes the choices.

Some 2nd gen Vietnamese knew about this opposite frequency 15 years ago and self-ejected back to Vietnam from California and are now living well in Vietnam with their own businesses.

From the videos of Vietnam I am seeing, the world geo politics of sharing the rice, fish and agriculture of Vietnam made Vietnamese the way they are for the world, especially for North America.

Basically, Vietnamese have to act a certain way, behave a certain way for North America.

North America is the center of the universe. It has everything you need (food, tech and opportunities).

So if you are understanding enough about the world, you play to the tune of USA.

As a 2nd gen Vietnamese born in Canada the coffee, donuts, pizza and burgers and comedy is 2nd to none in North America.

I went to the hospital today for my mom.

Realized the defining moments of life.

It is all 1st, 2nd generation really working together … sometimes 3rd???

I realized why my brother suffers making media content … He is trying to catch the next wave.

I just code what I like. I act like I am in grade 6 coding for fun.

While he is trying to do new, new stuff daily which is stressing him out.

Getting native

When I was in grade 6, I knew what I wanted to do. Code utility software.

How important is it for a first sibling to lead and do media cultural arts?

CodingMedia
You have to code what you likeYou might be forced to chase the next wave, next hype
Cover a bit of everythingTrying to absorb everything
Work in a logical teamWorking with everyone watching but alone

How long will this go on?
