You got to just work with like minded people mainly.
…
I follow this doctor to understand his point of view as a doctor of Vietnamese background.
My Vietnamese parents still to this day want me to study medicine. But I can not juggle the “dual identity” because I am born in Canada.
In Canada, I live very Western. I live Western to have my way and my freedom. Vietnamese from Vietnam have a fuller sense of self and can have their way navigating both Vietnamese and Western ways. But mainly Vietnamese.
If I live doing medicine, I can not wrap my head around providing care that is Western based on giving pills mainly???
I think my problems that I have are psychologically and socially based. Only a few people understand me and know my deep rooted problems …
It can not be solved by taking pills or living in someone else’s recommendations and lifestyle and their control. Not limited by general society or general society’s standards.
I think everyone knows the solution to their problems, but some people don’t see it or they are not that smart to know right now. Takes learning and doing. Gradually to get to a solution their way.
Everyone needs to have the will and hope to overcome all their problems, especially in the West where there are supports and many ways to solve a problem.
The freedoms that you have here in the West should allow you to grow in many ways and uniquely yourself to get out of the illnesses that you have.
As a person of colour, the face-to-face interaction doesn’t help. As a person of colour it is what you do in your head in the mind that becomes important. The face-to-face interaction might become a limiter to growth and health maybe. This dilemma is so important here in the West. Once you understand that then you can work towards thinking differently and grow from the limitations of face-to-face interactions.
