| What was your dream growing up? | In grade 6 it was to create tools for the Windows computer. This was in 1996. |
| When did you realize life was going to be hard and that computer programming was a way to get a smart healthy life in the West? | In grade 7 I realized life was hard. Back then classmates already decided their path and trajectory. I was split. I tried programming but I could not figure it out. I became scared and stunted. I knew I needed a teacher/mentor but could not find one at that time. |
| How many times did you give up programming? | Theses are roughly the times when I gave up trying to do computers 1997, 1998, 2000, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2018 and 2021. |
| What made you push to do computer programming in 2021? | I met a few people that changed my life in doing computers: In 2021, Tan Vu (John) a Vietnamese international classmate at college helped me. He convinced and changed my mindset to do programming the Vietnamese way from Vietnam. “Just keep at it as everything is documented, on Google, and on StackOverflow. Who care how long it takes. You will eventually get the solution.” I talked to Kelly Pham and learned to be 100% open and found computer science harder than I expected. I finally met a Vietnamese born in Canada: Tammy Nguyen whose parents were also Boat People. Then we became friends and worked and regularly socialized over the next 5 years. We talk about work and lots of stuff and I grew and grew to what I am now. She challenged me nicely and friendly and I tried to see what she sees. All good natured and fun. As Canadians, nothing is out of the ordinary. I am just doing stuff with Canadians. |
| The “Windows 10 Debloater Tool” design | I have been using computers since 1995. In the back of my mind I always knew I will use computers. So for decades, I have been using computer user interfaces. With Ben Cybulski and learning from others over 3 years, we came up with the final design. So basically it took from 1995 to 2021 to design it. That means if you are going to build something, it is usually subconscious learning over decades about your main hobby. |
